FAQs about Grow and Monetize Boosts
Boosts operates as a robust two-sided marketplace, connecting newsletters looking to grow their audience with publishers looking to promote other newsletters while generating revenue; making it a fantastic opportunity to both grow your audience and monetize your newsletter.
You can choose to participate in one or both sides of the Boosts marketplace (grow and monetize). Below, you’ll find frequently asked questions about both growing and monetizing your publication using Boosts.
Frequently asked questions about Grow Boosts
When using Boosts to grow your audience, you're paying for verified subscribers who are referred to you. To get started, you’ll need to add funds to your beehiiv wallet, which will be used specifically for these referred subscribers.
How do I fund Grow Boosts?
Your beehiiv account includes a wallet for Boosts and other features. Before adding funds, you must complete Stripe Identity Verification to confirm your account. Once verified, you can add funds to your beehiiv wallet and start using Boosts.
How do you verify engaged subscribers for Boosts?
To accurately verify engaged subscribers, we utilize an array of data points, including email engagement, geolocation information, and behavioral patterns. This comprehensive approach ensures a high-quality subscriber base and prevents fraudulent or low-quality subscribers from abusing the platform.
Due to the sensitive nature of these measures, we are unable to disclose specific methods employed. Nevertheless, this rigorous process effectively maintains the integrity and security of the beehiiiv platform and protects all users from being charged for inauthentic subscribers.
If you feel that subscribers were incorrectly verified, please navigate to your Grow Boosts dashboard and click the 3 dots menu next to the Boost agreement > Report.
If you need further assistance, visit the Help page in your account for more options and resources.

beehiiv Boosts are facilitated through Stripe for both publishers and advertisers. You can click here to see the current list of supported countries where Stripe is available.
Do you charge a fee for Grow Boosts?
Yes, we apply a 20% fee. This fee encompasses the costs of facilitating the boost, operations, and Stripe transaction fees. The good news is that this fee is integrated into the marketplace prices, ensuring transparency without hidden charges or surprises.
When you add funds to your Boosts wallet, every cent is dedicated to acquisition. For instance, if you deposit $1,000 and set a $1 CPA, you'll receive 1,000 subscribers. In this scenario, those accepting your boost will view an offer of $0.80 per subscriber. This way, they always see the exact amount they'll eventually receive. All displayed boost offers already account for our 20% fee, which eliminates charges on deposits and withdrawals because the fee is integrated into each offer.
Can I remove or disable the direct link for my Boosts?
By default, direct links are toggled ‘off’ for all Boost agreements made after January 30, 2025. To toggle direct links on, go to the Boost Grow dashboard > Overview Tab > Select a publication and toggle the Direct Link option on in the top right corner.
For agreements made prior to January 30, 2025, you can remove the direct link channel for each individual publication. To do so, navigate to the Boost Grow dashboard > Overview Tab > Select a publication and toggle the Direct Link option off in the top right corner. This will disable the boost direct links for that publication. However, you cannot disable boost direct links at a global level, it can only be done at a publication-specific level using the toggle.
Why is there a delay in new subscribers showing up in my account when using Grow Boosts?
To ensure you're charged solely for active subscribers who double opt in, we've implemented a 2-21 day buffer that validates all subscribers, preventing ghost or spam subscribers. This measure guarantees the acquisition of high-quality subscribers.
Any new leads acquired through a boost campaign will experience a 2-21 day delay before appearing in your account. During this time, they will be labeled as "Pending Subscribers" within your dashboard.
Once your subscribers are verified, they will stay on your list as active subscriptions. If the subscriber can not be verified and is rejected, auto clean will remove them from the list without you having to lift a finger.
Why are subscribers getting rejected from my Grow Boosts?
beehiiv uses a verification method to determine the quality/engagement of a subscriber. While using Grow Boosts, you can also set additional parameters (such as restricting payouts to subscribers in certain countries). When subscribers and funds are ‘pending,’ that means the system is determining if they fit all criteria. If the subscriber passes verification, the funds will go through. If they don’t, the pending funds are returned to your beehiiv wallet.
What user roles can access Boosts?
