How to add two-factor authentication (2FA) to your account
As part of our ongoing commitment to security, your beehiiv account comes with the option to add two-factor authentication (2FA). This process provides a simple yet effective additional security measure for your beehiiv account, which can be particularly important with the added features for accepting and making payouts through your beehiiv wallet.
Tech Note: To set up 2FA, you'll need a 3rd-party app installed on your smartphone with 2FA capabilities, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password. This article uses Google Authenticator as an example.

Disclaimer: The beehiiv platform has evolved since the filming of these videos, so parts of the user interface featured in the videos will be slightly different that what you see in your account. In particular, to access your 2FA settings, you would go to your profile icon > Account Security and click Get Started.
How to set up 2FA
- From the upper right corner of your account, click your profile icon > Account Security.
- Under the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Get Started.
- A QR code will appear. Open your chosen 2FA app (e.g., Google Authenticator), and use it to scan the QR code in your beehiiv account. This will generate a new item in the app that updates with numbers every few seconds.
- Enter the numbers generated by the 2FA app into the field of the 'Two-Factor Authentication' section in beehiiv, then click Verify.
- Once accepted, you'll see a green box signaling that your beehiiv account is now connected to your 2FA app.
- Then moving forward, each time you log into your beehiiv account, you will be required to confirm the numbers in your 2FA app to authenticate it.
