Integrating Shopify with your beehiiv publication

You can easily connect your Shopify account to beehiiv using Make. This integration automatically adds new subscribers to beehiiv whenever a purchase is made in Shopify, keeping your email list up-to-date effortlessly.

This connection is only triggered when a Shopify customer selects the ‘Email me with news and offers’ option during checkout or when a new contact is created in Shopify.

In this guide, we’ll first outline the requirements for integrating Shopify with beehiiv. Then, we’ll walk you through creating a scenario in Make to transfer new customer data from Shopify, and then show you how to connect it to beehiiv to complete the integration.

Tech Note: While our support team is happy to help with beehiiv's functionality, we are unable to assist with third-party tools or services. For beehiiv-related assistance, visit the Help page in the top navigation bar. You'll find resources there, including our chatbot for quick support, depending on your plan.

What you need for this process

How to create a scenario in Make to connect Shopify to beehiiv

Reminder: All subscribers added to your beehiiv account must have provided explicit consent to receive emails from you, in order to be in compliance with our terms of use and privacy policy.
  1. Log into your Make account and navigate to Scenarios, then select the option to Create a new scenario.

  2. Select a trigger for the integration. Click the plus (+) icon, and a list of apps will appear. Use the search field to find and select the module Watch Customers (Shopify).

For Connection, select the Shopify account you want to connect. For Limit, set a value based on your customer base.

Pro Tip: The Limit setting in Shopify determines the maximum number of results (customers) the integration retrieves and processes in a single execution cycle. For example, setting a limit of 5 means that each time the scenario runs, it fetches up to 5 new customers from Shopify within the last 15 minutes.

  3. Select an action for the integration. Use the search field to find and select the module for Create a Subscriber (beehiiv).

  4. Within the beehiiv module, for the Email address field, search for and select the ‘Email’ variable to be passed over to beehiiv.

  5. For the Source field, specify that it is Shopify. If you already have a tracking campaign setup, then you can also set the Medium and Campaign, otherwise it’s fine to leave these blank.

For the Referring Site, list your company website.

  6. Review your selections to ensure all is set up as you wish and then click on the Save icon in the bottom bar.

  7. Be sure to run the new integration at least once to test it out. From the bottom bar, click the Run once option.

  8. When everything is working as intended, enable the scenario to run automatically by toggling the option On at the top.
