Available on paid beehiiv plans. Click here to upgrade your account.

As part of beehiiv’s robust 3D analytics, the Clicks Report provides a detailed breakdown of all link clicks within your beehiiv posts. With in-depth insights at your fingertips, you can make data-driven decisions to refine your linking and backlinking strategies for maximum engagement.

When paired with the beehiiv backlinks feature, the Clicks Report becomes a powerful tool to identify which links drive the most reader interaction.

We’ll walk you through all the information contained within the Clicks Report with an explanation of each section and what to expect.

Reminder: Your link strategy is unique to your newsletter. Your 3D analytics and Clicks Report may differ from what’s shown in this article based on factors like the number of links used and your audience’s engagement levels.

Clicks Report overview

To access your Clicks Report, navigate to the left panel in your account and go to Analyze > Clicks Report

At any time, you can export the report by clicking Export tab to PDF. Alternatively, to download the results, hover over the table, then click the 3 dots menu > Download Results.

Filtering your Clicks Report

The Clicks Report provides a detailed breakdown of URL performance in a table format. By default, it displays posts scheduled within the last 30 days. You can adjust this by clicking the Posts Scheduled At box and selecting a different date range.

To refine your report further, use the URL Contains filter. This allows you to search for specific links by entering any portion of a URL, such as a domain like ‘youtube.’ The report will then display all links containing that keyword.

To apply the filter:

  1. Enter the desired keyword(s) in the URL Contains text box and hit Enter.
  2. Click Apply when the button appears.

Key metrics in the Clicks Report

Below the filter boxes, you’ll find two key data points that adjust when using the URL Contains filter:

  • URL Contains Link Verified Clicks: The number of verified clicks for links that match your filter.
  • % URL Contains of Total Clicks: The percentage of total link clicks represented by your filter.

For example, if you filter by ‘x.com’ and see 403 clicks, with 14% of total clicks, this means links containing ‘x.com’ accounted for that portion of clicks in the selected time frame.

Pro Tip: You can go even further by visiting the post analytics dashboard, where you can view a click map for each individual post. Using this in combination with your Clicks Report helps you better understand which links drive the most engagement.

Link Clicks table data

Further down, you’ll find a table displaying all links within your selected time frame. This table includes the following data:

  • URL: A shortened version of the link for quick reference.
  • Verified Total Clicks: The number of total verified clicks (clicks confirmed as valid) from your email subscribers.
  • Verified Unique Clicks: The number of verified unique clicks (individual clicks confirmed as valid) from your email subscribers.
  • Total Web Clicks: The number of clicks on the web version of your post.
  • Total Unique Web Clicks: The number of unique clicks (individual clicks) on the web version of your post.
  • Full URL: The complete link in its entirety.

You can also sort the table by any metric by clicking the arrow next to the column header.
