How to update the address and copyright text in your publication footer

The physical address featured in your publication footer is an aspect that is required by law. The information for the address is pulled from your publication’s email settings, which can be updated at any time in your account.

Additionally, you can update the physical address globally for all publications in your workspace.

Your copyright text establishes your content as original and proprietary, protecting it from unauthorized copying or use. By default, it displays the name of your publication, but you can customize it if preferred. This article will cover both changing the address and the copyright text that appear in your publication footer.

You can also customize the appearance of your publication footer in the Newsletter Builder.

How to update your publication footer address

  1. From the left hand panel Dashboard, scroll down and select Settings.

  2. Your publication settings will open. If you have multiple publications, select one from the dropdown options. Click Emails from the left panel.

  3. Scroll to Email Footer Details. If you haven’t set a publication address yet, it will say No Address Set. Click the Pencil Icon to update your address.

  4. Enter in your Street Address, City, State, Postal Code, and Country. You will need to input a value for each field to have your address updated in your emails. Review all fields for accuracy and then click Save.

Tech Note: By law, a physical address must be included in your email footer. When adding your workspace information in this step, ensure all address fields, including ‘State,’ are completed. If any fields are left blank, your address may default to beehiiv's New York address to meet the legal requirement for a public address.
  5. Once saved, your company address will be featured in every publication footer.

  6. To remove the address from your account, click the trash icon. This is necessary to set a global email footer address (instructions below), as the publication address overrides global settings.

Note: If there is no address in your account, the beehiiv New York address will appear in your footer in its place to meet the legal requirement.
