How to customize your publication byline
The byline that shows up at the top of your beehiiv publication can be changed or customized right from your account. Generally, the byline is of the person that wrote or published the newsletter consisting of a profile picture and name, but you can customize the look of it.

Disclaimer: The beehiiv platform has evolved since the filming of this video, so parts of the user interface featured in the video will be different than what you see in your account. In particular, to access the byline settings for your publication, you would go to Design > Newsletter Builder as reflected in the written instructions below.
How to customize your publication byline
- From the left hand panel in your account, go to Design > Newsletter Builder.
-
Upon opening the Newsletter Builder, you’ll be on the Background tab, click the arrow to close Background. Then, scroll down and click the arrow next to Email Header to open it.
-
In the Email Header section, scroll down to Byline where you can check or uncheck the option to have your author links underlined. You can adjust the Font family, Accent color, Font size, Avatar size, Vertical spacing, Font weight, or Date format.
-
You also have the option to check if you want to show the reading time on the page. If so, then you can also adjust the Reading time font color and Reading time label.
- Any changes that you make in the settings on the left will be reflected in the preview on the right.
-
When the byline looks as desired, click on Save Changes in the bottom right corner, then click Exit.
-
When your changes have been saved, you’ll be taken back to your dashboard where you'll get a ‘Theme published!’ popup message.
