Post byline customization options
The byline of your posts appears at the top of your newsletter and typically includes the profile picture and name of the person who wrote or published the content. You can easily customize the appearance of your post byline directly from the Post Builder to better match your publication’s style.
How to customize your post byline
- Open a new post draft or select to edit one of your saved posts.
- The Post Builder will open on the Compose page. On the right side, you’ll see the Write and Style panels. By default, the Write panel is active. Click on the Style panel to access post byline customization options.
- The Style panel will open on the Basic tab. Switch to the Advanced tab.
- The Background section will be open by default. Click to close it, then open the Email Header section. Click on the Byline icon to reveal the Header byline styling options.
Advanced byline customization options
- In the Header byline styling section, you can edit the following aspects:
- Show byline: Toggle the byline on or off for the post.
- Font selections: Choose the font family, weight, size, color, and accent color for the byline text.
- Avatar size: Select the pixel size for the featured person’s profile picture in the byline.
- Gap: Adjust the gap or padding around the byline (either individually or together).
- Show reading time: Toggle on or off to display the reading time in minutes.
- Reading time font color: Choose the font color when reading time is enabled.
- Reading time label: Specify the label text when reading time is enabled (the default is Estimated Reading Time:).
- Underline author links: Toggle on or off to underline the author links in the byline.
- Date format: Choose between Long, Long Ordinal, Short, or None for the date appearance.
Pro Tip: All changes made in the Style panel are instantly synced and reflected on the post canvas. To revert to older versions, switch to the Write panel and click on the Version history icon at the top of the Compose page.
- Click the Preview button at the top of the post Builder to check how your byline styling looks.
- You’ll see a preview of your post with options at the top to switch between Web, Email, Desktop, and Mobile views. Use the dropdown arrow to view different subscriber levels. Click the X in the top right corner to exit.
