How do I create a survey form for my newsletter?
Survey forms are found from the side navigation bar under Audience Survey Forms.
What types of questions can I include in my survey form?
Currently, we offer two question types: free form and multiple choice. We will be adding more, such as multi-select, in the future.
Can I customize the appearance of my survey form to match my brand?
Survey forms automatically adopt the brand styling settings of your newsletter to create a cohesive brand experience.
How do I share my survey form with my subscribers or on my website?
Forms can be shared by unvalidated link to collect new subscribers from form submissions anywhere a link can be shared. If you share your link through a media that allows dynamic text replacement (like beehiiv), you can add ?email=email to the end of the URL to auto-validate existing users. Survey forms configured as the native post-subscribe survey are automatically validated, and when used in the destination of a beehiiv Subscribe Form, we automatically add the email to the URL.
How do I assign a survey form to be completed after a user subscribes?
Once published, you can set a survey form for the post-subscribe experience by clicking the three-dot menu and selecting the appropriate option.
How do I view and analyze the responses to my survey form?

Can I use the data collected from survey forms to personalize my newsletter content?
The custom fields created from survey form completion can be used in newsletters using our handlebars taxonomy. For example, if the custom field you collected for a users name was First name, you could personalize your newsletter with the subscribers name by typing {{First name}} in the editor. You can also set a fallback default by adding text after a | like so: {{First name|friend}}.
How do I create custom fields for my survey form?
You can create custom fields from the survey form interface our through our custom fields interface found from the menu under Audience → CustomFields.
Can I use survey form data for audience segmentation and email blasts?
Yes
Are survey forms available on all beehiiv plans?
No, survey forms are a feature of our Scale plan.
Can I use survey forms to collect shipping information for referral rewards?
Simply create a survey form with the required fields and add the survey URL (with ?email={{email}} appended to the end) to your milestone notification email.
Is it possible to trigger automations and webhooks based on survey form responses?
Not currently, but we are working hard to make this possible.
How does beehiiv ensure the privacy and security of the data collected through survey forms?
We use best-practice data security protocols to ensure that data is safe with us. However, using Survey Forms, you should never collect sensitive health, financial, or personal data.
Can I embed survey forms on third-party website builders, such as Webflow or WordPress?
You can't embed them so that the form is visible on 3rd-party sites, but you can add survey form links wherever you can normally embed a URL.
